Anthracite Fields
Presented as part of Westminster’s Transforming Space project.  Westminster Choir performs Julia Wolfe’s Pulitzer Prize-winning masterwork Anthracite Fields with the Bang on a Can All-Stars, Musical America’s Ensemble of the Year, in the monumental space of the Roebling Wireworks, site of the annual Art All Night Festival.

Semi-staged and utilizing video projections, Anthracite Fields was described by Los Angeles Times music critic Mark Swed as “an unforgettably haunting, harrowing evocation of the plight of Pennsylvania’s coal miners, incorporating many musical styles and effectively shadowy visuals.”

See this not-to-be missed production before it travels to the Spoleto Festival USA in June.  Learn more about this ground-breaking project at http://www.rider.edu/transformingspace.
Friday, April 21 8 p.m.
Saturday, April 22, 8 p.m.

These performances are funded, in part, by The Presser Foundation and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

This engagement of Bang on a Can, Inc. is made possble through the ArtsCONNECT program of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Spoleto Festival USA
The Westminster Choir and the Festival’s Artistic Director for Choral Activities Joe Miller continue their annual residency at the 2017 Spoleto Festival USA, performing in orchestral and solo concerts and serving as the chorus in opera productions.  Learn more at www.spoletousa.org.
