Christmas vacation is a time of rest for Westminster Choir College students. After a semester laden with music-making, outside performances, homework, and repertoire for applied lessons, there is nothing more gratifying than relaxing for a couple weeks. For members of the Westminster Choir, our tour looms on the horizon. After two great weeks of needed rest, we came together for a rehearsal focusing on our tour repertoire.
Coming back together after a break is always an interesting time. The energy of the room is bubbling with excitement, everyone is thrilled to see friends, and the sound of the choir is rejuvenated and refreshed. Singing through our tour music after not singing it for over four weeks was like riding a bicycle. The entire choir appeared focused and determined to review our music. Dr. Miller even gave us a piece to learn with a memory goal: Alice Parker’s Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal. Talk about trust! This rehearsal served as a reminder that our collective determination can overcome any obstacle.
As our tour begins, be on the lookout for daily posts from yours truly. I will be writing with as much detail as I can about our adventures. Please share them with your friends, family, and anyone else who would like to stay connected while we’re on tour.
