Pajama Day!

It’s beginning to look a lot like the Westminster Choir pajama day! One day a year, members of the Westminster Choir don their pajamas during rehearsal for a tradition that harkens back many years (for exactly how long, I do not know). This is a fun day where students dress in their nightly apparel. There were many styles of pajamas, including pajamas with bananas, Super Man, solid colors, flannels, and everything in between. Quarrels occur between some about whether or not it’s appropriate to wear them all day or just during rehearsal. Yours truly wore his all day – why not embrace the tradition wholeheartedly?

Many students followed suit with the all-day tradition, though most changed for the rehearsal. This ensemble has such a variety of pajamas: onesie pajamas, footie pajamas, some with exercise clothes, and some with night-caps. Soprano Allison Miller even brought her stuffed banana pillow to rehearsal.   Here’s a photo of her with Dr. Miller.

Westminster Choir takes this tradition seriously! Since our repertoire has moved from tour music to Christmas music, it made the rehearsal seem a bit closer to home. All that was missing was a fireplace and some warm hot chocolate.

Readers, do you have any exciting Westminster Choir pajama day stories? We’d love to hear them!
